Real reality

Thomas Merton writes that life of the spirit gives us access to ‘real’ reality.

The life of the spirit, by integrating us in the real order established by God, puts us in the fullest possible contact with reality – not as we imagine it, but as it really is.

— Thomas Merton, No Man Is an Island

What is real and what isn’t? Half the time, I don’t really know…to be honest. With all the voices, the noise, coming at me from all directions; with marketing strategies that subtly change my perception of what is important and what isn’t; with my own longings to be this or do that.  It’s near impossible for me to keep straight what is up and what is down.

Light. I need light in this world of shadows. Not lots of lights; just one. The true one.
